Release - The Awakened
The Awakened System allows players to gain the trust of popular heroes of Vana’diel and draw on their skills and talents in solo combat. These skills are only available while players are playing solo and/or with a pet and are designed to enhance solo play when players cannot find a group to tackle challenging content.
Players have two goals:
- increase their awakened capacity which allows them to concurrently channel more trusted skills at once or use higher cost skills, and
- enhance their trusted skills by gaining the trust of each hero.
Gaining Awakened Status
- Level 99 to enter Feretory.
- Completion of Adventure Quest lv99
- Completion of “Waking Up The First Time” questline (new), offered by the Suspicious Elvaan in Northern San d’Oria.
Players who complete the initial questline will gain the ability to unlock entrusted skills in the Feretory. This location is accessible via the Odyssean Passages in Northern San d’Oria (L-8), Port Windurst (M-4), Port Bastok (K-12), and Eastern Adoulin (?-?).
Inside the Feretory
Inside the Feretory, players will be greeted by Aengus, Maccus, and Suibhne. These floating dvergers will provide players insight into their progress within the Awakened system, sell tokens necessary to participate quests to players that allows them to increase their camaraderie with the heroes, and more.
Unlocking Entrusted Skills
Inside the Feretory, players will find various familiar faces around the zone. Each hero has an Awakened level requirement to unlock. Once players meet the unlock requirement, these heroes will provide their first quest to gain access to their entrusted skill. Each provides a unique, short-term benefits to the player and scales based on the level of camaraderie with the hero.
Trust | Awakened Level | Required Capacity |
---|---|---|
Excenmille | 1 | 30 |
Kupipi | 1 | 30 |
Naji | 1 | 30 |
Ayame | 2 | 30 |
Trion | 3 | 60 |
Shantotto | 3 | 60 |
Using Entrusted Skills
Once acquired, players can access their Trust skills from the Trusts menu. Trusts can be used in or out of combat, but are considered spells, so are prone to Silence and Mute.
Using an entrusted skill expends a fixed amount of Awakened capacity. This starts a status effect, Awaken
, on the player with a counter. The amount of Awakened capacity is determined by the player’s Awakened level. Additional capacity can be gained which allows multiple skills to be activated at the same time or more potent skills to be used. This system works similar to the charge system of Strategems or Wild Cards where each use of an entrusted skill increases the duration of the counter.
Once activated, the Awaken status effect begins counting down from its current spent capacity back to 0. Players can use additional entrusted skills while Awaken is active given they have the capacity for it.
Examples
-
Shantotto and Naji have a capacity cost of 30; Trion has a cost of 60.
-
An awakened level 1 player with a capacity of 30 can have either Shantotto or Naji active, but cannot activate Trion. activate Naji +30s, wait 30s, activate the next one.
-
An awakened level 3 player with a capacity of 60 can have both Shantotto or Naji active, or Trion active. activate Shantotto +30s and Naji +30s, or Trion +60s.
-
An awakened level 5 player with a capacity of 90 can have Trion and Naji active, then when Naji wears off, activate Shantotto or Naji again. activate Trion +60 and Naji +30, wait -30s for Awaken to reduce from 90 back to 60, then activate Shantotto or Naji +30 or wait -60s to activate Trion again.
Players can use their capacity to weave various entrusted skills based on their combat style and needs. Higher potency skills tend to have higher capacity requirements, so plan accordingly!
Increasing Camaraderie
Each week, players can complete a quote of camaraderie quests with their unlocked heroes based on their Awakened level.
Players can purchase Soul Spectacles from Suibhne using capacity points, cruor, or legion points. These items can be traded to the heroes to begin a camaraderie quest. Successful completion of a quest increases your camaraderie faction with that hero. Players can speak with Teyrnon at any time to see which camaraderie quests are active.
Increasing your camaraderie rank with a hero improves duration, potency, or even adds additional effect to their entrusted skill.
