Client Update - December 2023
For a refresher on how to update your client, click here.
In Check Files and/or when typing /ver
in game, the new version number should be 30231205_0
or higher.
- Updates to message IDs in: All Base and RoZ Zones (wtf SE?)
- Updates to NPCs in: Grauberg [S], All Base + RoZ Zones (again, wtf SE?)
Community members who are using high-definition DATs, such
as Ashenbubs, are recommended to use XIPivot to sideload their files
to making updating month-to-month easier. Be sure to grab it to get the latest textures. Players who use Xi-View should
update from Caradog or KenshiDRK depending
on which one they use.
Ensuring you have the latest versions can fix several issues with chat windows crashing
clients, icons not showing up right, etc.
Winter Celebration 2023
- The core logic of the Twinkling Treants has been updated to make them a bit more resilient.
- Treants now negate doom and death, preventing players from trying to instant-kill the treants. If players do manage it, treants no longer drop any loot. (Seriously, don’t kill the treants; you get less loot and make people upset. We are not above public shaming people when they kill them.)
- Treants now actively monitor engaged targets. Players who are more than 25y away will be removed from the enmity pool and if all players are removed from the enmity pool, the treant will go dormant and reset.
- Treants now monitor incoming damage rather than measuring HP pools to make dropping gifts boxes more reliable.
- Treants now drop gift boxes more frequently.
- Players must be within 15y of the treant to receive the Starlight Stars buff effect from some crates.
- Treants’ Winter Breeze effect has been replaced with Polar Roar. Winter Breeze was changed between prior years and now and no longer has a knockback. Polar Roar properly knocks players back to prevent AFK combat.
- Treants now “dash away” less frequently.
- Treants now are more explicit when they “dash away” that they are moving to another part of the current zone.
- The “2023” Starlight Celebration reward, Yule Talisman (red and green longcoat), has been added as a 350 holiday cheer reward from the Gift Seller.
- The Stop the Grinch battle now has three tiers of “rare items” that can drop on completion. Each has three flavors
of augments on it at fixed rates. Each tier has a melee, an magic, and a general use augment set.
- The bugbear cest is equippable at level 40 with mods scaled for that level.
- The goblin cest is equippable at level 60 with mods scaled for that level.
- The moblin cest is equippable at level 75 with mods scaled for that level.
Miscellaneous
- UPDATE Bostaunieux Obuliette has been added to the list of zones to “reset mobs” every game day to put them back in their proper positions if they’ve been trained away.
- UPDATE Numerous weapons and mobs “additional effects” or custom spike effects have been fixed that were using an
old, now-invalid effect type.
- While this only affected a couple weapons (e.g. Jugo Kukri +1), many mobs in Abyssea and Voidwatch should now have their proper effects.
- BUG Addressed a potential logic issue with treasure pools caused when two members leave at the exact same time on the same IP (multiboxing) that could cause a crash condition.
- BUG Addressed an issue where gil distribution was additive based on party position (party member 2 got party member 1’s distribution plus theirs, etc.) rather than being a lump sum divided by party members.
- BUG Addressed a potential edge case where having no main hand weapon wouldn’t allow equipping of a shield.
- BUG Fix incorrect mods for Gyve Trousers and Eihwaz Ring.

Winter Celebration 2023
The Winter Celebration is here! The Winter Celebration will take place from 10 December 2023 to 14 January 2024.
This seasonal event is one of our largest with events for everyone.
- Help the Holiday Gifter in Southern San d’Oria find gifts for our hardworking moogles. You’ll find these throughout the world, as drops from the Twinkling Treants, or as crafted items.
- Teach Ebenezer in Bastok Markets the true meaning of the holidays through a storyline quest – The Christmas Carol.
- Visit the Event Moogles every day to receive a free gift, including the dream gear!
- Deliver sweet treats to children in the three nations to earn holiday cheer points and unlock rewards (part of The Christmas Carol storyline).
- Get out the woodchopper and hunt down the notorious Twinkling Treants for gift boxes and prizes.
- Confront the Grinch in the conclusion to The Christmas Carol storyline.
- NOTE: This battlefield is sealed during the event until conditions are met to enter it.
- Assist the Expert Crafters in
!craft
with rare items to earn Holiday Cheer (requires Veteran status or higher in the craft). - Earn Holiday Cheer to gain access to additional rewards sold by the Gift Seller in Southern San d’Oria, including rare items like the Excalipoor II, Premium Mogti, and more!
A few updates this year:
- The ‘cooldown’ for children receiving gifts has been reduced and more children now accept holiday gifts (as part of the Christmas Carol storyline).
- The Ghosts event (as part of the Christmas Carol storyline) now alert players if another is participating in the event already.
- The radius in which the Twinkling Treants deliver gifts has been reduced. You’ll need to be within 15y to receive rewards.
We’ll be adding additional rewards and events throughout the month, so keep watch!
Login Point Rewards - December/January
New login point rewards have been added.
In addition, returning rewards include:
- Astral Cube
- Carbie Cap
Miscellaneous
- UPDATE Reduced the packet rate limiter for invalid NPC packets for those using iBar and other plugins that automatically scans everything in widescan. This should reduce players being kicked to the login screen. We’ll continue to monitor this as this packet does affect server performance and is considered harmful, but many players use it.
- UPDATE Addressed an issue with Blue Magic’s Subduction adding more tiers of Magic Attack Bonus trait than it should have.
- UPDATE Added a shortcircuit for Aspir and Drain to prevent them from calculating on undead targets (which these spells do not work on) to reduce processing time.
- BUG Addressed an issue with Sleep II and Lullaby still allowing movement while active.
- BUG Addressed a typo in the conversation text of the final Red Mage master job questline.
- BUG Addressed an issue with a stray Scummy Slug sitting up on a ledge in Foret de Hennetiel; returned them back home.
- BUG Addressed an issue with the Gevaudan Belt having a Haste latent instead of Double Attack.
- BUG Addressed an issue with the Colibri skill “Snatch Morsel” showing the wrong effect message.
- BUG Removed the mimic feature of the two Archaic Chests in Pso’Xja so the angry little chests are already spawned for cyan chips. These have fixed respawns and drop chances are unchanged.
Members Portal
- UPDATE Added the Cruor Prospectors (our custom Cruor Shop) as a custom vendor to the Members Portal listings.
3 December
Miscellaneous
- UPDATE Updated our packet monitor for emotes to make them more lenient for those who attempt to wave to everyone around them and wave more than once per second. Still, macroing 4-5 emotes together will land ya back at character select. Don’t do that, it makes the server (and our bandwidth) sad.
- UPDATE The Protective Heartwings for the THF MQ1 should no longer drop loot.
- UPDATE Updated moat carp to be caught by the Ebisu Fishing Rod.
- UPDATE Updated the AH category for Ormolu Ingots to Goldsmithing instead of Blacksmithing.
- UPDATE Added Apkallufa as potential drops to Riverscum and Canyon Apkallu.
- UPDATE Added a check to Tiamat to reset its flight checks when disengaged and begins roaming. This will cause Tiamat to land to players can re-engage.
- BUG (temporary/hotfix) Updated the QM in Reisenjima for Mauve-Wristed Gomberry and Gajasimha to no longer ‘hide’ after used until the root cause of it never returning can be identified.
Beastmaster Pets
Thanks to everyone’s that’s been providing some feedback and data. Weird edge cases be weird.
Some findings:
- Pets do appear to follow their masters even when asleep. They do not respond to commands though while asleep. They won’t follow if bound and will teleport to their masters if the master is > 35y away.
- There’s notes that “Sleep II” and “Lullaby” still allow movement… which, makes absolutely no sense. We’ve removed that code for now, though… they still move. shrug More investigation needed on that, though it seems harmless.
The root cause of most of the current issues appear to be that the pets are somehow incapacitated, but since players cannot see debuffs on their pets (without addons), it’s hard to tell why since they still follow behind.
In all cases, waiting for things like Sleep and Lullaby to wear off returned the pets to normal.
- UPDATE Added checks to Fight, Sic, and Stay to prevent attempting to activate the command if the pet is in an incapacitated state (slept, terror, etc.). This should prevent the cooldowns from being burned and acting like it fires off with nothing happening.
26 November
Miscellaneous
- UPDATE Updated the animation packet system to use the base entity, not attempt to loosely cast it to a character entity (even though it’s used on mobs). This should resolve some edge cases where some animations could cause client crashes or, in rare cases, zone crashes.
- UPDATE Updated the animation packet system with additional null checks and detect if the entity is disappearing and do not send if disappearing (logging out).
- UPDATE Updated the push packet subsystem to not send packets to entities that are disappearing to address a crash condition caused when multiple entities on the same IP disappear at once.
- UPDATE Updated several charm abilities to not attempt to target pets to avoid potential crash conditions.
- UPDATE Added numerous guards around certain packet systems that could cause server crashes if players sent excessive packets.
- UPDATE Added numerous rate limit checks (beyond our current lightluggage checks) to look for excessive packets
that could cause zone crashes.
- Rate limited packet enforcement sends the offending player back to the start screen (character select).
- Rate limited packets include, but are not limited to: emotes, wide scan, jump, invalid npc responses, invalid trades.
- UPDATE Added an additional check to ensure latents fire more reliably (and a bit faster) on
/equipset
changes. - UPDATE To address a concern around racial slurs, the job title for master job Black Mages has been updated to Black Wizard to mirror the title used in the original Final Fantasy lore.
- UPDATE Added the “Shadow Banisher” title on successful completion of the Shadow Lord BCNM rather than when the exit event happens for players who warp out after the cutscene rather than being exited. This should address some players not being recognized as Rank 6 or higher for various unlocks.
- UPDATE Cleaned up Khimaira-type monsters to have their more common attacks and battle mechanics.
- Mobs now have proper “wings up” and “wings down” that triggers Tourbillion or other skills depending on their wings.
- Lithic Breath has been added for Khyso-Khmiaria-type models.
- Several family members have been updated to reflect their proper jobs, such as Khimaira being a THF/WAR.
- All family members have been updated to have their proper melee attack speeds.
- Mobs included in this update: Apadermak, Dhrome Khimaira, Nemean Lion, Khimaira, Tyger, Mired Khimaira, Mired Khysokhimaria, Gajasimha.
- Skills have been reviewed and updated to have their proper mechanics, areas of effect, or damage types.
- UPDATE The escaped Lentic Toad that keeps roaming toward the entrance of Reisenjima has… one again… been returned home. Who knows for how long…
- BUG Updated Smite’s calculation to provide Attack%, not flat Attack.
- BUG Added missing values to allow Magic Atk. Bonus trait to scale beyond tier 1 when adding blue magic traits.
- NOTE In this evaluation, I found that many are missing multiple tiers. We’ll be reviewing and addressing these over time. Most traits are a bit moot due to our augments and higher stats, but we’ll work to evaluate this as time permits.
- BUG Addressed an issue with Peda. Mortarboard +2/+3 having positive instead of negative “Grimoire Spellcasting” mods, causing these to increase casting time.
- BUG Addressed issue with Cliffhanger Toads not properly linking.
- BUG Addressed an issue where Helix spells would underflow when any sort of “on magic absorb” triggered on the target.
- BUG Addressed an issue where Helix spells would continue to tick on a target that is healed; helix spells now need to do damage before they will tick (preventing accidently triggering a Helix that is healing a mob for 100K/sec and you can’t remove it).
- BUG Addressed an issue where Kupipi’s cutscene for Windurst 8-2 didn’t show the proper key item in the dialogue.
- BUG Addressed an issue where the Evil Armoury in SE Apollyon had an (i) due to a namevis shift.
Members Portal
- BUG (hotfix’d) Addressed calculation issue showing some tiers of Legion gear had inverse values (high rarity as very common, vice-versa).

Fall Harvest 2023
The Fall Harvest is over for the year. Thanks to everyone who participated. The big harvesters (most harvest points) this year were:
- 🥇 Fyimsii - 792
- 🥈 Mediflow - 608
- 🥉 Ozric - 506
That’s a lot of angry leafkins!
Our next event, The Winter Celebration, will start in early December.
ToAU Instances
We took some time this week to review feedback around the ToAU instances and issues getting updates.
- In Path of Darkness, updated Naja Salaheem’s script to no longer root her in place; she’ll roam from phase to phase. The restriction that you fail if she dies remains disabled as her stats scale poorly to our bonuses.
- In Nashmeira’s Plea, updated Razfhad to have an extreme amount of -DT to reduce the chance you could accidentally kill him first. This is lessened when Raubahn is killed 3 times.
- In Nashmeira’s Plea, added a timer to adds a delay between the position jump and the event start to let the event fully activate before trying to shift positions. In testing, this seemed to resolve the random black screen between Razfahd and the Alexander fight.
That said, as multi-boxing is harmful to these (and called out in our Server Guidelines as something at the player’s own risk), it continues to be a warning and, if continues, we may look at ways to simply restrict entry to these to one player at at time since we only use these for the ToAU missions (and most 99/99’s should be able to beat level 65-70 content).
Miscellaneous
- UPDATE Removed the variance in the Diamond Quadav’s spawn timer so that it properly used the 60m respawn time in the database.
- UPDATE Removed the cutscenes from the Gold World Pass NPCs in major towns as those cutscenes seem to crash player’s clients.
- UPDATE Updated the food effect of the “jar of marinara sauce” to have the missing HP Heal +1 effect.
- UPDATE Added a proper “dupe rare/ex” message for the Halls of Legion for when players get loot they cannot obtain again (but it’s not an inventory sort issue).
- BUG Addressed an issue where the “need to zone” checks were shortcircuiting before the check happened.
- BUG Addressed an issue where the Wall of Banishing in Davoi wasn’t playing the correct animation on opening.
- BUG Addressed an issue with the Mallquis Ring that had +12 to Slashing Resistance instead of +12 to Magic Damage.
- BUG Addressed an issue with the Lentus Grip having +Delay instead of +Delay %.
- BUG Addressed an issue with the Sword Strap increasing delay instead of reducing delay.
- BUG Addressed an issue where Lady Lilith’s (Reisenjima Sanctorium) Fatal Allure could target pets and cause a crash condition.
5 November
Miscellaneous
- UPDATE Updated the fishing system to use the ‘modern’ animation packet and animations. This should address the issue were FPS would drop down to 15 or 1 during the mini game depending on your catch.
- UPDATE Completed a full audit of all SoA zones (Ceizak to Kamihr, the Gates and Caverns, even Rala Waterways) with
over 500+ adjustments.
- Mob levels were originally set to larger ranges when we first rolled SoA out. These have now been aligned to what shows on the wikis. Mobs should no longer have wide ranges where they can be level 100 to 120 in the same area.
- Mob HP ranges have been updated to align to their levels.
- Mob MP ranges have been updated, and added to some that were missing it (and weren’t properly casting spells).
- Addressed issue where some mob families lacked entityFlags causing them to not have a default appearance (be hidden) until they moved.
- UPDATE The baseline experience point bonus for New Game+ grinding in hot zones has increased by 2x.
- BUG (hotfix’d) Addressed an issue where Occ. Max Magic Accuracy would do the opposite because it was still based on a 100-scale not a 1-scale after the Magic Hit Rate changes.
- BUG (hotfix’d) Addressed an issue where doll-type mobs Meltdown ability would do no damage.
- BUG Addressed an issue where Bean Diafuku/+1 didn’t get updated to the new modern values. The amounts of vitality, accuracy, ranged accuracy, and pet defense have increased.
- BUG Addressed an issue where sublime sushi’s HQ quantities did not reflect modern values when crafted with fresh wasabi (dollop of wasabi).
- BUG Addressed an issue where Cait Sith’s Level ? Holy could fail to trigger if no targets were hit by the last use of the skill.
- BUG Addressed an issue with the synthesis recipes for the Garuda and Titan rings using the wrong avatar tears.
- BUG Addressed an issue in Bostaunieux Oubliette where some mobs had incorrect values.
- Nachtmahrs should now show up on the members portal and there should be more of them.
- Nachtmahrs should now have proper drop lists.
- Wurdalaks should no longer be classified as NMs.
- 23 mobs who didn’t have spawn locations now do and should appear (so there’s 23 more mobs in the zone).
- BUG Addressed an issue where sticks of pepperoni required wind crystals instead of fire crystals. Less carving, more grilling.
Members Portal
- UPDATE The monster search page now includes how many spawns of that mob are in the zone.
- UPDATE The multipliers have been updated to reflect changes made for the Chronicles updates for mob HP and MP values for mobs with fixed or baselined HPs (most modern era mobs).
- UPDATE The spawn conditions for a mob now includes ’lotto’ in addition to ‘scripted/event’ (as lotto is… scripted, but that wasn’t clear to everyone).
- BUG Addressed an issue where the portal was confusing Mamool Ja and Trolls for the Besieged updates.
29 October
Fall Harvest 2023
- A new event has been added in Western Adoulin. There are numerous tricksters around the city lurking about.
- You’ll need a costume yourself, like a witch’s hat or pumpkin head, to participate!
- Find them and collect a treat (be sure to have inventory space) from them. There’s a special gift for those who find them all.
- Are you overflowing with gold leaves and nothing to do with them? Players can now synergize the aucuba crown.
- Required synergy level: 10
- 1x wind, 5x earth, and 5x light felwell
- 4x gold leaves, 1x brass cap, 1x jar of blue textile dye, and 8x flax flowers
- There’s now a rare chance that players will gain an additional harvest point when defeating a Harvest Protector.
- The chance for Harvest Protectors to spawn has increased in all zones.
Magic Hit Rate - Testing
So, everything here is up in the air to change. We’re reviewing and taking an iterative approach to how we look at this.
What We Had
There’s been a lot of concern about how enemy abnormal stats impact players across all levels, but mostly that lower level mobs can affect players at higher levels. Over the past week or so, we’ve been digging into the formulas, testing on retail, and testing different permutations of what is fair, but also aligning to how we handle accuracy in other areas, like melee and weaponskills.
Previously, we’d set the following updates as part of Chronicles:
- Increase the base hit rate of all magic to 60% (up from 50%).
- Standardized on the retail formula for +/- dMAcc (delta of magic accuracy/magic evasion).
Unfortunately, that gave mobs an advantage as pure level correction didn’t give enough magic evasion as it previously did in our custom formula. This was somewhat validated on retail as I could run around as a level 99 SAM/DRG with an i119 weapon and worms could generally blind me, but not bind me and orcs could almost always poison me–but, since these are all resisted by duration, they all wore off very quickly.
What We’re Trying
We’ve reviewed and tested a few different ways to do this. A few recommended that the ‘retail formulas’ on BGWiki were not quite correct and should be viewed as hundredth-based decimals instead. After some testing, we’re inclined to agree.
So today’s state:
- We’ve reset the base hit rate of all magic to 50%.
- Mathematically, the formula is now
0.50 + (-1 * abs((dMAcc / 2) / 100) / 10)
fordMAcc < 0
and0.50 + (dMacc/100)/10
fordMAcc >= 0
.
Here’s a few examples:
Using a dMAcc < 0
approach, where the dMAcc = -138
:
=0.50 + (-1 * abs((-138/2)/100)/10))
=0.50 + (-1 * abs((-69/100)/10)
=0.50 + (-1 * abs(-0.69/10)
=0.50 + (-1 * abs(-0.69/10)
=0.50 + (-1 * abs(-0.069)
=0.50 + (-1 * 0.069)
=0.50 - 0.069
=0.431
=43.1% hit rate
So a difference of -138 evasion to the caster’s accuracy would be a reduction of hit rate from the baseline by ~7%.
Using a dMAcc >= 0
approach, where the dMAcc = 292
:
=0.50 + (292/100)/10
=0.50 + 2.92/10
=0.50 + 0.292
=0.792
=79.2% hit rate
Here, that +292 delta leads to a nearly 80% hit rate.
But, because, SE decides to be complicated, that’s not where it stops as next you figure out resistance based on that hit rate. Currently, we follow the “Current Theory” of how this works based on cutpoints. For damage attacks, resistances reduce the damage. For effects, it typically reduces the duration.
Assuming that your incoming threshold is p
in the following formulas, the resist checks are then:
half = (1 - p)
quarter = ((1 - p) ^ 2)
eighth = ((1 - p) ^ 3)
sixteenth = ((1 - p) ^ 4)
The system then, because all things in FFXI are RNG-based, does a math.random()
to see where you fall. For example, in
that 43.1% hit rate example above, the cut points become:
half = (1 - 0.43) -- or 0.57
quarter = ((1 - 0.43) ^ 2) -- or 0.32
eighth = ((1 - 0.43) ^ 3) -- or 0.18
sixteenth = ((1 - 0.43) ^ 4) -- or 0.10
If I math.random()
and land at, say, 0.29
, then I am a quarter resisted, because 0.29 exceeds the sixteenth and
eighth thresholds, but not the quarter, so whatever it is basing the resistance on (damage or duration), would be
multiplied by 0.25.
Other Important Notes
- Status Resistance effects, like
POISONRES
add a flat percentage. 1 RES = 1% of forced hit rate reduction. These are your surefire ways to reduce hit rate. If a mob has a hit rate of 70% and you have +20 Poison Resistance, that hit rate becomes 50%. - Elemental Resistance effects, like
FIRERES
add a flat value. 1 RES = +1 MAGIC EVASION to incoming spells aligned to that element. This is likely why you can stack an element and a status, but not both.
Final Notes
Right now, this is a work in progress trying to find the right balance between gameplay, challenge, and convenience.
To be honest, to me (Derahine), this feels a bit too soft right now, so we’ll be monitoring our logs and seeing what comes of this change. We may stay at this for a couple weeks and see how it settles. While we don’t want to make things like accuracy, resistance, or evasion overwhelming to achieve, we also don’t want to make them feel useless when acquired. There’s a fine balance we hope to achieve.
Miscellaneous
- UPDATE (hotfix’d) Addressed an issue where the Fall Harvest festival would not work in West Sarutabaruta [S].
- UPDATE Players can now purchase Arch-Omega and Arch-Ultima parts from the Sagheera shop for 300-400 ABCs each. Access to this shop requires the full zone completion title.
- UPDATE Players can no longer participate in HELM activities if they have enmity from a monster.
- UPDATE Added missing item modifiers to all of the Arasy weapons.
- UPDATE To better align with Crusade and the Absorb effects, removed the antiquated decremental tick effects of Innin and Yonin.
- UPDATE Added a “base” set of stats at level 1 to avatars, similar to what jugs or automatons get. This should make them a bit more effective at level 1-2 until they start scaling.
- UPDATE The stat scaling cutpoints for avatars have been adjusted to be more in line with jug pets for a smoother transition from level to level with a bigger bump at 99+ for players who obtain Level+ gear.
- UPDATE Updated the display model of the Shango Robe to be the correct model.
- BUG Addressed an issue with Goobbue Farmers having the wrong loot table (or ate too many lindwurms).
- BUG Addressed a crash condition in how the item container clears out items.
- BUG Addressed an issue with how the logic worked for patrolling NPCs that could cause them to become non-responsive.
- BUG Addressed an issue where elemental ninjutsu was attempting to use an incorrect global and potentially show the wrong damage value if two identical spells were cast at the same time.
- BUG Addressed an issue with how the target validation logic worked that caused it to short circuit when pets were attempting to target their master and didn’t see them as valid targets. This should address issues with Carbuncle, Wyvern’s Restoring Breath, and others.
- BUG Addressed an issue with Shiva’s Sleepga not properly calculating skill over cap.
- BUG Addressed an issue where avatars at level 1 had a weapon damage of 0, instead of 1, and updated logic to round up rather than down for some damage calculations.
- BUG Addressed an issue where avatars’ final damage was negative (absorbed), it wasn’t properly showing the healing message, but was showing an underflow (131K+ damage).
- BUG Addressed an issue where ninjutsu was not properly accounting for +Ninjutsu skill in damage formulas.

- The Voluspa Shield has been added to the shop; under ammo/grips, for 300 domain points (due to its crazy power).
- Various immunities have been added to mobs within the Sanctorium. Take note which mobs are immune to what as that can determine how the fight is managed.
- Adjusted the entry requirements for Blind Faith to match what’s on the members portal – the requirement for a chunk of dark matter has been removed.
Adventurer’s Chronicles
- Updated the quest system for quests with incremental steps (Apex and Quetzalcoatl kills) to remind players to return to the Silver Knife on completion.
- (hotfix’d) Addressed an issue where defeating Apex mobs in a hot zone was not properly checking if the hot zone was active.
Augments
-
Two new vendors are available to trade augments in for points to buy other augments of the same tier.
- Heemo-Weemo in Western Adoulin (near Inventor’s Coalition) will accept your tier 4 augments for one (1) point a piece and you can buy any tier 4 augment for three (3) points a piece.
- Divainy-Gamainy in Western Adoulin (near Inventor’s Coalition) will accept your tier 5 augments for one (1) point a piece and you can buy any tier 5 augment for three (3) points a piece.
-
Updated the augment drops from Fractured encounters to be on separate slots and still Guaranteed. Each participating member of these battlefields will now get all three augments on successful clear.
- Keep in mind, more drops means more inventory requirements–have plenty of inventory space available before opening the coffer.
Reiterating a point here: Voidwatch and Reisenjima Henge were not the intended locations to farm tier 5 augments. They were added there as a bonus drop. We will not be making it easier to get those augments there, but continue to evaluate other methods using Delves, Fractures, and Wildskeeper Reives to make these available.
- New augments have been added to tier 2.
- Pet: Att/RAtt/Acc/RAcc for shell bug x3
- Pet: Magic Accuracy/Magic Attack Bonus for giant bird feather x3
- Several augments have been updated in tier 3, 4, and 5.
- Tier 3: Parry Rate (Inquartata) +3% => +6%
- Tier 4: Store TP/Subtle Blow +8 => +10
- Tier 5: Pet: Double Attack/Crit Hit Rate +3 => +5
Existing items augmented with augments that changed in potency will not be updated. This change is not retroactive due to how each augment is encoded onto the item.
- Updated all tier 4 and 5 augments to stack to 99 to conserve inventory space.
- Three tier 1 augments can now be crafted to high-quality and result in more items per craft. These now result in
quantities of 2, 3, and 4 at HQ1, HQ2, and HQ3.
- ponze of carapace powder
- clump of wolf fur
- paktong ingot
Delves
- Increased the delve shard drop chance from 15% to 25% for a limited time while new players are getting into the system. This will reset to 15% eventually.
- A new vendor is available, the Anomaly Expert in Eastern Adoulin. Players who have completed the Wildskeeper Reive in a zone can purchase the shards to spawn Delves (for a premium price). An option for those with limited time to farm and excess gil to burn.
Scaling
Last week, during our full update, the code for scaling got missed. We attempted to roll this out piecemeal over the week, but a few zones didn’t get updated.
As most know, private servers have ‘multipliers’ applied to HP, MP, and Attributes. We’d tuned these down with the addition of the pDIF changes, new growth systems, as well as some of the new gear (players were easily hitting 9999 HP and 999 in several attributes). The new adjustments, in most cases, still favor the player.
HP
Target | Old Value | New Value | Delta |
---|---|---|---|
NMs | 4.15x | 4.00x | -0.15x |
Mobs | 3.25x | 2.75x | -0.50x |
Players | 3.00x | 2.75x | -0.25x |
MP
Target | Old Value | New Value | Delta |
---|---|---|---|
NMs | 3.00x | 3.00x | N/C |
Mobs | 1.00x | 2.00x | +1.00x |
Players | 2.50x | 2.00x | -0.50x |
TP
Mobs and NMs share the same multiplier for TP.
Target | Old Value | New Value | Delta |
---|---|---|---|
Mobs | 1.15x | 1.25x | +0.10x |
Players | 2.80x | 2.50x | -0.30x |
Attributes
Attributes are values like STR, VIT, etc. and affect things like attack, defense, evasion, and dSTAT calculations.
Target | Old Value | New Value | Delta |
---|---|---|---|
NMs | 3.55x | 3.00x | -0.55x |
Mobs | 1.75x | 2.00x | +0.25x |
Players | 2.45x | 2.00x | -0.45x |
Our goal will be, eventually, to get to a place where it’s a simple 1:1 ratio between players and ‘general mobs’ and 1:2 ratio between players and NMs so players who have pushed the limits of their character don’t see diminishing returns at the top end. We’ll continue to do this research and work incrementally.
Miscellaneous
- UPDATE Adjusted how magic and weaponskill determines whether or not an effect can be applied to a target. If that target is outright immune to the effect, it stops and doesn’t try to force it. This addresses where players can use " occ. max magic accuracy" to bypass immunities.
- UPDATE Added petrification and plague immunities and added to a few mobs (and more to come).
- UPDATE While reviewing weaponskill additional effects, redesigned the system ground-up to ensure that the new magic accuracy bonuses and level corrections were taken into account and improve how multiple effects were processed on some weaponskills.
- UPDATE Reviewed and adjusted how incoming effects “hit rate” is calculated. Adjusted the formula to also account
for the player’s content level (ilevel + Chronicles + Heroics) when calculating level difference.
- NOTE: We currently have a ‘base’ magic hit rate of 60% whereas retail’s is 50%. We can reduce this, but it will affect players too.
- UPDATE Adjusted the gil cost of the voiddust to voidstone conversion from 250K per voidstone to 20K per voidstone. The CP and IS requirements are unchanged.
- UPDATE Makel-Pakel will now provide players the timers for their AQ99 - ⭐ The Savage and acquisition of a new Cosmo-Cleanse for Limbus.
- UPDATE Rapture properly affects Divine magic spells by granting a +50% base boost (plus any percentages from gear mods).
- UPDATE The Composer’s Sabots and Misanthropy have been added to Teles’ loot pool in Reisenjima. The scythe that was in her loot pool has been removed (the chance that the item ID typo for one scythe happened to be another scythe).
- BUG (hotfix’d) Addressed an issue with tier 1 VWNMs not dropping Empyrean phase 2 materials.
- BUG (hotfix’d) Removed an antiquated ’need to zone’ check for San d’Oria 7-1 quest mission.
- BUG (hotfix’d) Addressed an issue with how augments are transferred with Aurix (Relic JSE) that caused the zone to crash when crafting a JSE necklace.
- BUG (hotfix’d) Addressed an issue where the Relic i119 III final reward for the Amanomurakumo provided the wrong item.
- BUG (hotfix’d) Addressed an edge case where Whirlpool Masks and Whirlpool Greaves would favor greaves more than expected due to a duplicate item ID check.
- BUG Addressed an issue where Slowga had the wrong potency formula and would inflict a 0-potency slow effect.
- BUG Addressed an issue (hopefully) where Japanese clients could not properly cancel out of some menus.
- All players who were affected by ‘buying’ something you didn’t intend from the Chronicles shop, please DM me with a screenshot or logs (with date and time) of the purchase and I can reimburse you OR provide you with one of the items in compensation.
- BUG Removed the flavor text from Sagheera mentioning needing a Relic or Mythic item has that requirement has been removed.
- BUG Addressed an issue with Sagheera’s materials menu that it would close if you hadn’t gotten titles from either zone to open those shops.

The Adventurer’s Chronicles
Continue your adventures and gain renown throughout Adoulin with the Adventurer’s Chronicles.
Under the tutelage of Trystol, you’ve managed to become a fully-fledged adventurer, reached level 99, and taken the first steps in conquering the darkness. So, what now? Where do you go? How do you make a name for yourself as an adventurer?
The Adventurer’s Chronicles (AC) are a follow-up of the Adventure Quest (AQ) system available on completion of the final Adventure Quest step with Trystol at level 99 and will help guide players through the various systems in that open up at level 99.
These quests are fairly straightforward tasks and will be carried out in parallel as players unlock and explore other combat systems. Most new players will gradually complete each chapter in the AC as they work to unlock other content, but can use the system to guide what types of content they should be focusing on and when.
To begin, find your way to the exclusive club, the Silver Knife, in Eastern Adoulin. Glowing Hearth at the front door can provide a clue on how to enter this exclusive club. Be warned, like any good bouncer, he’ll need a little payment every time you want to enter.
Each Chapter has a specific target or set of targets with an associated reward. Some rewards include Kupons that players can use to choose their own rewards from Dealer Moogles located in Port San d’Oria, Port Bastok, and Port Windurst.

Brave the Darkness - Reisenjima Sanctorium
The final chapter of Heroics is here! Reisenjima Sanctorium harbors dark, perilous fights to challenge groups who have reached the pinnacle of heroism.
Players can access the Sanctorium through the Etched Rock at near the final egress in Reisenjima.
Encounters
For the full encounter list, see the Reisenjima Sanctorium page.
Rewards
Players gain access to several sets of gear and currency from these encounters. While each encounter has a slight chance to drop items directly, players will also gain domain points to purchase domain invasion items directly from Zurim located within the Sanctorium.
Keep in mind that rewards in Reisenjima Sanctorium are personal loot via the Armoury Crates and Domain Points. Group up!

- The Crepuscular gear (Twilight Mayhem only)
Be sure to check the BCNM/Instance page for each encounter to see the full loot drops!
Domain Invasion Gear - Unique Buffs
Each of the Domain Invasions armors and weapons have unique stats. We’ve opted to have our own take on these.
- The attributes on each domain invasion piece is always active.
- The “super powered” modifier on each domain invasion piece is active, to start, only in Heroics zones (Escha Zi’tah, Escha Ru’Aun, Reisenjima, and Reisenjima Sanctorium). See the latent effects on the item details on the members portal.
In the future, a very challenging questline will be added to unlock these powerful armors and weapons in every zone.
The Content Matrix
The content matrix was developed to help guide players on when and where they should be at each phase of their journey. While a recommendation, not prescriptive, this should give an idea on where each type of content falls and what opportunities exist at each level.
The matrix is interactive–hover over each to go to the appropriate spot.
The Delves of Ulbuka
As part of the Adventurer’s Chronicles, players now have access to the Delves of Ulbulka. These challenging encounters
can be spawned at the appropriate quest marker (???
) using the corresponding yggrete shard. The shards
drop from nearby monsters (similar to retail).
- The delve gear that previously dropped from “wonder” NMs or voidwatch campaigns has been added to the correct delve encounter.
- Each delve supplies players with baylds on defeat and can be respawned by players who have additional yggrete shards.
- Yggrete shards are not affected by treasure hunter and considered ‘bonus loot’ (similar to beastmen seals).
- Monsters that drop Yggrete shards have a faster respawn timer (180s, down from 300s) than surrounding mobs.
- If grouping up, participants must be within 20y of the delve to be flagged to begin. Make sure your group is nearby before starting the encounter!
Ceizak Battlegrounds Celedon
Many of the encounters in Ceizak Battlegrounds have unique resistance stances where they’ll either become immune or absorb a type of damage. Keep watch for proc triggers to know when you’re doing something right (or, in some cases, doing something very wrong).

The Wildskeeper Reives & Fractures
As part of the Adventurer’s Chronicles, players now have access to the Wildskeeper Reives of Ulbuka.
These battlefields allow parties of 6 to enter and challenge the encounters at any time (rather than retail requiring a timer and enough zone pre-events). Each Naakual will offer a unique challenge and set of mechanics.
Each battlefield has an elemental ‘key’ to trade to enter. The player zoning into the instance will need to trade the key to enter. This item will be consumed upon entry to the battlefield. The cloister gem can be found inside of each elemental cloister (Cloister of Flames, Cloister of Gales, etc.).
In addition, all participating players will need a key item, purchased in Eastern Adoulin from Dimmian, for 1,500 bayld each. This key item is consumed upon entry to the battlefield for every participant.
Players can acquire bayld from participating in delve encounters. All participating members of the encounter will receive bayld as a personal currency reward that shows up in the Currency tab.
Battlefield | Cloister Gem (leader only) | Key Item (all) |
---|---|---|
Colkhab | Galestone | Brier-proof net |
Achuka | Flamestone | Magma mitigation set |
Tchakka | Tidestone | Compass of transference |
Hurkan | Stormstone | Insulator tablet |
Kumhau | Froststone | Anti-glaciation gear |
Yumcax | Tremorstone | Resurrection retardant axe |
The Wildskeeper Reives replace the open world versions of these encounters for players participating in Peacekeeper missions. The open world “wonder” versions bid farewell and thanks for all the chips.
“Fracture” Encounters
In addition to the Wildskeeper Reives, as players defeat the open-world delves, each will drop a corresponding bead. Players can return to the Wildskeeper Reive entrypoint, trade all five beads for the zone, and challenge a “hard mode” version of the Naakual for additional rewards, including i119 gear, crafting materials, and more!
Battlefield | Yggzi Beads (I -> V) |
---|---|
Muyingwa | Celadon |
Tojil | Alizarin |
Dakuwaqa | Zaffre |
Cailimh | Phlox |
Utkux | Aster |
Wopket | Russet |
In addition, these encounters will also count as a successful Peacekeeper mission (similar to how some high-tier fights in Escha work) if the player has unlocked that coalition. This provides another means for players to progress their Peacekeepers and Heroics.
Gear Progression and Migration
Much of the gear found in Wildskeeper Reives and Delves was either scattered across the world on various other encounters or not available at all. This made this gear feel “out of progression” to have entry level gear dropping from the open world wyrms or TOAU kings.
- All Delve and Fracture gear has been assigned to the correct monster encounter.
- All Wildskeeper Reive gear has been assigned to the correct instance armoury crate.
- Mobs that previous dropped this gear has had them removed and cleaned up (for many drop lists, this helps clean up the quantity of items each encounter can drop).
Overall, this has added over 70 new items into gameplay targeted at tier 1 and tier 2 gearing options (early 99’s) to smooth the transition into higher tier contents and give players more options for unique gear sets earlier in their journey.
Gameplay Mechanics
With much of the gear from this release including new modifiers, several gameplay mechanics were reviewed and adjusted.
Player cRatio
(Level Correction) Adjustments
With the addition of the Adventurer’s Chronicles, the calculations for how level correction has been adjusted to allow players to grow beyond 119 (the current “item level” max) as they take on more challenging content.
Briefly, level correction (known as cRatio
in many formula) is responsible for:
- Physical attack hit rate as part of the pDIF calculations
- Magic hit rate through magic evasion bonus/detriments
Traditionally, player’s level correction was based off their level and/or the item level of their main hand (or ranged, for ranged attacks) slots. Currently, and seemingly, eternally, this remains 119. As we’ve continued to provide alternative ways for players to grow, challenges continue to grow too, including monster levels.
To continue to give players a way to grow their item level, the Heroics and Adventurer’s Chronicles systems will now grant one (1) level correction per chapter or rank. You’ll see this combination of item level and bonus referred to in new guides and documentation as your Content Level.
- Q: What does this mean?
- Players who are level 99 and reach Heroics rank 11 and Adventurer Chronicles rank 10 will have their
cRatio
calculated at 140 (119 + 11 + 10
) instead of 119 allowing them to have higher success rates landing attacks on higher level targets. Note: Item level, and therefore this bonus, is not used when level sync’d or restricted below level 99.
- Players who are level 99 and reach Heroics rank 11 and Adventurer Chronicles rank 10 will have their
- Q: Does this mean accuracy and magic accuracy are not necessary?
- Absolutely not. Players will still need to gear accordingly, but will find it easier to have more consistent results with less wobble.
- Q: What all does this apply to?
- These enhanced level calculations apply to player weaponskills, magic (all types, including blue magic), and pets.
- Pets who have level bonus gear equipped will use that as their baseline level, so a level 125 avatar could be calculated at 146 for level correction checks.
- Q: How do I check my Content Level?
- Players can check their content level by using the
!skills
command.
- Players can check their content level by using the
The level correction cRatio
does not affect skill amounts, dSTAT
(STR vs VIT, INT vs INT, etc.), or other values,
only whether or not an accuracy penalty or bonus is applied to the player.
Damage Limit and pDIF
- The trait Damage Limit + has been added. This trait works to add an additional value to player’s max
pDIF
based on job and weapon combination.- These traits at 99 now align with what players can find on bgwiki and other sources.
- The item modifier Physical Damage Limit +% has been added. This modifier works as a multiplier to the player’s
max
pDIF
(similar to how critical hit works).
Shields and Blocking
The formulas and processes for shield blocking has undergone scrutiny to improve how shield block rate and damage reduction works.
- Reviewed and verified core concepts around shield block vs. -PDT reductions; adjusted several shields that had “0 DEF”, which caused them to block more damage than intended (this prevents the Kupo Shield and other level 1 shields from having the same quality as an ultimate shield).
- Updated the core system checks to not check for shield block changes if the incoming damage is already zero based on a nullify/annuls check.
- Added missing DEF stats to 58 shields to properly fire absorb checks.
- Removed the shield flag from a random tier of the Liberator mythic (scythe). 😕
Magic - General
- The base spell system has been entirely revamped and spells are now stored in memory rather than in the database.
The database will act for a future system of spells that players can learn. - This change greatly increases the speed of player load-in time and reduces database work since, in general, all players have the exact same spell list.
Magic - Elemental Magic
- Elemental magic now has a base damage scaling multiplier and accuracy check based on Chronicles and Heroics rank. This
affects the
V
component of the magic calculation and a bonus calculation of magic accuracy.
Magic - Blue Magic
Several enhancements to Blue Magic have been added.
- With the addition of Damage Limit + and Physical Damage Limit +%, physical blue magic spells have been redesigned to benefit from these traits and modifiers.
- The
cRatio
andwRatio
of physical blue magic skills have been closer aligned to how weaponskills work (since, they were about 80% there anyway); this should make it easier to gear around accuracy, fSTR, the WSC attribute, and such when trying to maximize damage around physical blue magic. - Both physical and magical blue spells (and their status effects) are now enhanced by the additional level correction changes.
- Both physical and magical blue magic spells now have their proper monster correlations for both damage and effects.
- Correlation increases (or decreases) base damage by 25% based.
- Correlation increases (or doesn’t affect) accuracy of inflicted status effects by +10 accuracy.
- Magical blue magic spells now have a base damage scaling multiplier based on Chronicles and Heroics rank. This affects
the
D
component of the magic calculation. - Both magical and physical blue magic types now pass through their proper target damage reduction checks.
Magic - Ninjutsu
- Added Jubaku:Ni at level 50 with a paralyze potency of 30.
- Added Dokumori:Ni at level 56 with a poison potency of 25.
- Added Hojo:San at level 99 with a slow potency of 30% reduction.
- Added Kurayami:San at level 99 with a blind potency of 50.
Magic - Divine Magic
- Divine magic spells now have a base damage scaling multiplier based on Chronicles and Heroics rank. This affects the fixed base damage value of the magic calculations.
- Added Banish IV to white mages at level 85.
- Added Banishga III to white mages at level 99.
- Added Arise to white mages at level 99.
- This spell provides a “Raise 4” effect that causes the target to be raised with 100% of their weakened health ( green rather than yellow health) and gain a Reraise III effect. Perfect for those pesky DPS that keep getting one-shot by mechanics.
Magic - Enfeebling Magic
- Added Inundation for Red Mages at level 64.
- This is a custom implementation calculated by
(dMND / 4) + 15
with a min value of 1 and a max value of 20. Main job RDMs have a higher min and max at 5 and 25. - This debuff that lasts 5 minutes and does not require “unique weapon types” to activate the bonus.
- This debuff (based on the potency formula) increases the skillchain damage and magic burst damage taken by the target.
- This is a custom implementation calculated by
Magic - Dark Magic
- Added Absorb-Attri for Dark Knights at level 99.
- This unique spell, which can be resisted, has a chance of stealing a dispelable buff from the target.
- Nether Void has been updated to modify Absorb-Attri to allow it to absorb two dispelable buffs from the target.
Pet Mechanics and Adjustments
Automatons
Some new spells have been added to various automatons:
- Spiritreaver - Absorb-Attri has been added at skill level 368; this requires a dark maneuver to be active to trigger it and prioritizes if the target has dispelable buffs.
- Spiritreaver - Stun has been added at skill level 245 and prioritizes if the target is in a state that they can be interrupted.
- Spriitreaver - Comet has been added at skill 430 (merits required); it will prioritize this above other elemental spells.
- Soulsoother - Stoneskin has been added at skill level 105.
- Soulsoother - Haste II has been added at skill level 393.
- Stormwaker - Paralyze II has been added at skill level 321.
- Stormwaker - Blind II has been added at skill level 327.
- Stormwaker - Slow II has been added at skill level 342.
- Stormwaker - Dia III has been added at skill level 430 (merits required).
Some attachments have been updated:
- Flame Holder no longer grants Weaponskill Damage, but fTP, similar to how Fotia works. This is based on the
listing on ffxiclopedia stating that this is an fTP gain (which
does
better align to the ‘attack based on TP’ part of the description). We are keeping the previous values though
from BGwiki as they seem more aligned to our server.
- 0 = +0.25 fTP, 1 = +1.00 fTP, 2 = +1.75 fTP, and 3 = +2.50 fTP
- What does this mean?
- String Shredder is 1.5 fTP at all levels, so at 3 maneuvers, it’ll be 4.0 fTP at all levels.
- Arcuballista is 7.0/10.0/13.0 fTP across the levels, so at 3 maneuvers, it’ll be 9.5/12.5/15.5 fTP across the levels (making it slightly stronger than Savage Blade’s 13.75 fTP).
- Flashbulb now adds 180 CE and 1280 VE similar to the spell Flash.
Some mechanics and core AI has been adjusted for automatons:
- Stormwaker will not attempt to dispel a buff if it has a 0-based duration (a permanent buff) so that it doesn’t sit there trying over and over like a noob RDM.
- All automaton TP moves should now properly show a “{X} shadows taken” message when their TP moves are absorbed by shadows.
- A base, scaling fast cast has been added to all automaton heads that have spells associated to them.
- The base Magic Attack Bonus scaling modifier has been adjusted by 75-115% based on the automaton head type.
- Valoredge heads now have slightly more STR and a scaling enmity loss reduction bonus similar to normal Paladins.
- All automatons activated by main job puppetmasters gain 1% WSD per level up to level 99, then gain 0.5% WSD per level (floored) at 100+.
Wyverns
- Due to wyverns’ high -DT, high scaling HP pools, and bonuses gained through the Dragoon’s subjob traits and Spirit Bond, the base scaling modifier for wyverns has been reduced by a 3:1 ratio. They were a bit too much like tiny flying citadels and could tank Heroics-tier bosses if given the chance.
Jug Pets
- The growth modifier for all jug pets at level 119 and higher has been adjusted from 1.15 to 1.20.
- A base ACC modifier for all jug pets has been added.
- The base MACC modifier for all jug pets has been doubled.

Augment System Adjustments
Players have been asking for an adjustment to the augment system for quite some time. After much deliberation, we have revamped the entire Augment system from the ground up, making it easier than ever for players to begin taking advantage of the Augment system. The system has been revamped to adjust when new tiers become available, as well as adjustments to the specific items and quantities of items required.
A Thematic Progression
Augments are now broken up into tiers which are better aligned to the players actual progression through the content at Nocturnal Souls.
Augment Tiers
-
Tier 0 - Standard EXP Drops: New players will have access to this tier immediately upon creating a new character. Players leveling up their character can use common drops like Rabbit Hides and Insect Wings to enhance their gear.
-
Tier 1 - Shops and Crafts: Players who have completed AQ30 will be able to use items created through low level synthesis to add new augments to their arsenal.
-
Tier 2 - World Exploration: Players who have completed Rank 6 in their Home Nation are encouraged to travel the world, find interesting new mobs, and
murderdefeat them for their loot. -
Tier 3 - Unlock Final AQ99 Quest: Players who have unlocked the final quest in the Adventurer Quest line will once
-
again reach a new tier of augments and options to prepare them for the challenges ahead.
-
Tier 4 - Tier 1 Content: Players who have complete Chapter 1 (defeating the Wildskeeper Reives) will unlock tier 4 augments. These augments drop from Delves throughout Ulbuka. These augments also have a ‘hidden’ ex flag (exclusive) to prevent them being traded–they are personal loot.
-
Tier 5 - Tier 2 Content: Players who have completed the Voidwatch City missions and have obtained a White Stratum Abyssite I by beginning the Jeuno Voidwatch Quests will be able to take advantage of this tier. Augment materials are available from Delve Fractures, Voidwatch, and High Tier Henge Fights. These augments also have a ‘hidden’ ex flag ( exclusive) to prevent them being traded–they are personal loot.
-
Heroics - Heroics Rank 4: After players have unlocked Augment Tier 5 and have reach Heroics Rank 4, players will be able to take advantage of the Augments that drop in Escha Zi’Tah.
Balance Adjustments
At a high level, the augment system has been adjusted to allow higher augment values at pre-Heroics tiers and adjust the number of required items down so players can spend less time farming and more time exploring content.
Here are a couple Pre-Heroics before and after examples:
Augment | Pre-adjustment | Post-adjustment |
---|---|---|
Magic Accuracy / Magic Attack Bonus + 3 | N / A | Tier: 1 Items: Walnut Lumber x3 |
Magic Accuracy / Magic Attack Bonus + 8 | Tier: 2 Items: Ahriman Lens x12 |
Tier: 2 Items: Ahriman Lens x3 |
Magic Accuracy / Magic Attack Bonus +10 | Heroics-Only | Tier: 5 Items: Verdigris Stone +1 x1 |
Triple Attack +2 | Tier: 3 Items: Xzomit Organ x12 |
Tier: 3 Items: Xzomit Organ x3 |
Triple Attack +3 | N / A | Tier: 4 Items: Snowtip Stone x1 |
Main Hand Damage +5 | Tier: 2 Items: Giant Scale x12 |
Tier: 2 Items: Starmite Shell x3 |
Main Hand Damage +8 | Tier: 3 Items: Starmite Shell x12 |
Tier: 4 Items: Leafdim Stone x1 |
Transferring Augments
After a great deal of research into how best to accomplish it, augments now copy from one tier to another when upgrading items.
This also means that players completing the Adventurer Quest the first time can copy the augments off their AQ60, AQ75, and AQ90 rewards onto the next tier, making it easier to hit the ground running for that first job.
This affects:
- Artifact armor upgrades (tier 1 to 3), Relic (tier 1), and Empyrean (tier 1) with Vainrachault
- Relic armor upgrades (tier 2 and 3) from Aurix
- Relic JSE necks up to tier 2 from Aurix
- (tier 3 will place the custom augments on them no matter what the prior tier had)
- Ambuscade (Limbus/Salvage) armor upgrades with Monisette.
- Relic weapon upgrades from Magian Mog TJ and the Magian Master.
- Mythic weapon upgrades from Magian Mog CJ
- Empyrean weapon upgrades from Magian Mog AJ and Oboro
- Oboro does not carry over augments on ranged weapons as they’d be broken due to the ammo distribution.
For example, a player who has a Fighter’s mask augmented from the Adventurer Quest will have those augments copy onto the Pummeler’s mask +1 when completing the tier 1 upgrade.
Again, a reminder that item upgrades that have augments as part of the upgrade (for example, the stage 3 Relic JSE necks from Aurix) do not inherit augments from the previous tier. Players can choose to override these augments after upgrading.
Room For Growth
The Heroics tier of Augments is now in its own category, as opposed to being part of the numbered tier progression. This change opens up the potential for future numbered Augment Tiers for future non-heroics content.
We hope players will find that the adjustments to the Augment system offer new and exciting ways to maximize their gaming experience at Nocturnal Souls. See the Custom Augments page for details on each of the augments.
Monster Battle Mechanics
With implementing all of these new systems, several battle mechanics and such were added or cleaned up. Many of these changes affect all monsters of that family type.
- Addressed an issue where some mob spell lists weren’t leveled accordingly and mobs that were > 120 were casting lower level spells.
- Addressed an issue where several monster families with ‘custom’ auto attacks were giving TP to the target, not the mob.
- Added Lilith and Lilith Ascendant’s unique melee attacks and TP moves to the game.
- Added Hades (Perfidien) and Hades Prime’s (Plouton) unique melee attacks and audited and updated their TP move set.
- Audited and aligned dullahan-type TP moves to have their correct status effects and damage types.
- Audited the ‘stance dancing’ of Nakara-type monsters to activate the stances in sequence, not as normal TP moves. There is now a proper cooldown between stance changes.
- Audited and updated the status effects inflicted by the Nakara-type monsters to properly inflict the right effects.
- Audited and aligned zilant-type TP moves to have their correct status effects and damage types.
- Audited and aligned flan-type skills to have their proper target/AOE flags.
- Added macuil-type auto attacks and TP moves to the game.
- Added defiant-type auto attacks and audited available TP moves.
- Added plovid-type auto attacks and TP moves to the game.
- Added matamata-type auto attacks and audited TP moves to correct several elemental and damage type issues.
- Added yggdreant-type auto attacks and addressed an issue with Tiiimbeeer not having enough Tims or beers.
- Added craklaw-type auto attacks and audited TP moves to correct several elemental and damage type issues.
- Added belladonna-type auto attacks and audited TP moves to correct several “mob specific” versions of each.
- Added yztarg-type auto attacks and audited TP moves to correct damage types and status effect issues.
- Added several missing Harpia-type TP moves into the game and addressed several damage type issues.
- Added several missing snapweed-type TP moves into the game.
- Added several missing lynx-type TP moves into the game.
- Added several missing raaz-type TP moves into the game.
- Added several missing gnole-type TP moves into the game.
- Added several missing “triple bats”-type TP moves into the game.
- Added several missing colibri-type TP moves into the game.
- Added several missing slug-type TP moves into the game.
- Added several missing acuex-type TP moves into the game.
- Added several missing tulifare-type TP moves into the game.
- Added ~40 missing fomor weapon skills and added preliminary work as many are race and gender specific.
- Addressed issue with uragnite-type mobs where their family mechanic of going in and out of their shell was not working.
- Added mechanic for Gradual Petrification used by many peiste-type monsters. This inflicts a heavy slow that grows over time until the player is fully petrified at the end of the countdown. There is no cure for Gradual Petrification until it fully petrifies.
- Updated the timers used for certain versions of Absolute Terror and dropped the max potential cap from whe used as
a single target effect from
10+random(0,40)
to10+random(0,10)
for a cap of 20s. AOE versions of this effect are still limited to 10s. - Addressed an issue where snolls were warriors, not dark knights, causing their magical attacks to be weaker than expected.
- Addressed an issue where mob scaling ended at level 75 instead of continuing on to meet higher level mobs. Mob scaling now to goes up to 125 and various mob encounters that had ‘bonus effects’ added to them have been re-tuned.
- Added a mechanic where all newly spawned mobs have a cooldown before they can begin casting spells. This addresses an issue where mobs cast (and it’s almost always Death) before they have visually appeared on the screen. This should reduce lag in dense monster areas, like Dynamis Divergence where many mobs all spawn at once.

Adoulin/Ulbuka Waypoints
The Waypoints system on the Ulbuka Continent has been updated to allow players to move directly to biouvacs within zones.
- Within Western or Eastern Adoulin, players can teleport to any zone, including Ceizak and Yahse, and go directly to a biouvac or to the Frontier Station (the original teleport location).
- In each zones, players can teleport between biouvacs to quickly move around the zones and, hopefully, make it easier to reach some Delve locations.
- These teleports do not require require kinetic energy or unlocks like retail.
- The custom location for Outer Ra’Kaznar remains a teleport to the entrance.
Eastern Ulbuka Territory Hazards
The “hazards” located throughout the Eastern Ulbuka Territory (Seekers of Adoulin zones) have been wired up similar to retail to add additional obstacles for these zones. These mobs no longer have drops or aggro (unless attacked), but will pulse their effects to nearby players on a fixed interval. Keep these in mind your positioning with the new delve encounters.
-
Added Numbing Blossoms in: Ceizak Battlegrounds, Foret de Hennetiel, Yahse Hunting Grounds, and Yorcia Weald
- Adds a potent Choke and Paralysis effect on players within range.
-
Added Pungent Fungus in: Cirdas Caverns
- Adds a potent Rasp and Poison effect on players within range.
-
Added Spinescent Protuberance in: Dho Gates, Marjami Ravine
- Adds a potent Drown and Amnesia effect on players within range.

-
Added Graupel Formation in: Kamihr Drifts
- Adds a potent Frost and Paralysis effect on players within range.
Empyrean Weapon Phase II Trials Adjustments
To better align with the new Content Levels and Matrix and adjust due to changes in the “Wonder NMs”, the Phase II progression for Empyrean weapons has been adjusted to focus primarily on the Jeuno Voidwatch encounters.
The eBCNMs are unchanged, but players will find that they no longer need to progress as far with Voidwatch to progress their weapons (Jeuno vs. end of the Zilart line).
- Riftcinder: Now drops from all Jeuno Voidwatch tier 1 encounters and the eBCNMs Glavoid and Fistule.
- Heavy Metal: Now drops from all Jeuno Voidwatch tier 2 encounters and the eBCNMs Chloris, Briareus, and Carabosse.
- Riftborn Boulder: Now drops from all Jeuno Voidwatch tier 3 encounters and the eBCNMs Kukulkan, Ironclad Destroyer, and Shinryu.
Heroics Updates
- Tier 1 encounters in Escha Zi’Tah now grant 10 infamy per defeat.
- Defeating Azi Dahaka in Escha Zi’Tah now grants 1 completed peacekeeper mission.
- The requirements for joining the Peacekeepers coalition have changed from needing a completed Empyrean weapon to needing a completed Mythic weapon. This change aligns to the changes in Peacekeeper target types.
- The targets of the Peacekeeper coalitions have been changed. They no longer point to mobs in Reisenjima
Henge, Voidwatch, and Abyssea, but to the more thematic Delves and Wildskeeper Reives around Ulbuka.
- There are 36 targets in total (30 delves, 6 Wildskeeper reives) with the delves granting 50 infamy (25 for assisting) and the Wildskeeper Reives granting 100 infamy (50 for assisting).
- As these encounters are spawned by players, this should greatly speed up the rate at which players can participate in this content.
- Non-Peacekeepers missions now also reward Bayld in addition to Infamy (1:1).
Currency Conversions
Several new vendors have been added around the world that convert currency into other items. Each of these take one type of currency, such as Alexandrite, and convert them to “points” that can be spent at their shop.
- Patient Snake Eastern Adoulin, outside the Scouts Coalition, will accept Alexandrite for an array of items, including Tanzanite Jewels.
- Ysadel Eastern Adoulin, will now accept a one (1) Demon Medal and return three (3) Blackened ID cards in trade.
Miscellaneous - Chronicles
- UPDATE Updated hunt calculations to prevent players from incrementing hunts while participating in battlefield content, besieged, or instances.
- UPDATE The quantity of alexandrite and tanzanite rewarded from Hunts has been aligned 1:1. Without a jackpot, players receive 5 of each. A 30% chance for a tier 1 jackpot rewards 10 of each, and a 10% chance for a tier 2 jackpot rewards 15 of each. (old values: 5/2, 8/5, and 15/10).
- UPDATE Add a new item modifier for Elemental Seal MAB Bonus and added it to all versions of Laevateinn and other weapons with this modifier. This modifier adds the noted magic attack bonus to spells cast while Elemental Seal is active.
- UPDATE Improved latent effect calculations to trigger on equip packet, not on a timer schedule.
- UPDATE Added missing drop lists to several mob families in Seekers of Adoulin zones.
- UPDATE Sagheera no longer requires players to have a Relic or Mythic weapon to participate in Limbus. While having an i119 is a recommendation, now that there are new sources of i119 weapons, it is not required for it to be a mythic.
- UPDATE Margret no longer requires players to have a Mythic weapon to participate in Reisenjima Henge. While having an i119 is a recommendation, now that there are new sources of i119 weapons, it is not required for it to be a mythic.
- UPDATE Addressed an issue where players could attempt (via plugin) to sort their inventories while they trade items, causing the trade to fail.
- UPDATE Reduced the forced recast timer for the Soulsoother automaton head to attempt to heal every 10s rather than 15s.
- UPDATE New items have been added to several monsters throughout the world to support the new Augment System changes.
- UPDATE New items have been added/shifted to several mobs in Voidwatch and Legion to support the changes with Delves, Wildskeeper Reives, and add some of the missing Coalition items.
- UPDATE Players can no longer mount while within a battlefield or with the confrontation effect active.
- UPDATE With the addition of the fractures and delves, the Wonder NMs have been removed from the game. This includes all of the Naakuals as well as the Ravenous Cracklaw and Daricullin. The loot from these encounters has been redistributed to various other encounters, such as Legion and Voidwatch.
- UPDATE Based on the new Content Matrix, some of the HP pools and levels of encounters within the Halls of Legion have been reduced to make them more accessible to fresh 99s.
- UPDATE The monster Silk Caterpillar in Rolanberry Fields is now on a fixed 15m respawn timer rather than varying every 6 hours whenever the Bastok airship flies overhead.
- UPDATE Updated Flee, Chocobo Jig, and Chocobo Jig II to properly remove weight conditions from the target.
- UPDATE The Skullrender axe (Reisenjima) now has its missing Spur +15 modifier.
- UPDATE With the addition of the Crepuscular gear, both the Crepuscular and Twilight Scythes have been wired up to grant players a temporary “non-elemental” enchantment. This makes auto attacks and weaponskills act similar to Formless Strikes and ignore barriers and damage restrictions.
- UPDATE With the addition of the Crepuscular gear, both the Crepuscular and Twilight Cloaks have been wired up to
have a new
ENHANCES_IMPACT
modifier on them. As these items traditionally granted the spell, but we make it available to many jobs without the cloak, a bonus was in order! Players can now equip these items for a +5 on Twilight and +10 on Crepuscular bonus to Impact increasing its magic accuracy and potential stat reduction potency. - UPDATE Removed the naakuals drops from Kaagen (VWNM) as they now drop from the proper naakuals fights.
- UPDATE Added the usable flag to several new items (which are new augments) that turn players into various costumes (for the lawls).
- UPDATE Alexandrite, tanzanite jewels, crystals, and crystal clusters can no longer be sold on the auction house. Previously, this was a poor experience due to our custom stacking to 99 and players could not sell stacks on the AH.
- UPDATE Added functionality around gear that provides knockback reduction. Players will now see
REDUCE_KNOCKBACK
as the item modifier on various gear. Knockbacks, in general, have a power associated to them and range from 1-3 as " light" knockbacks to 10 as a “heavy” knockback. If player has sufficient knockback reduction, they will remain stationary during a knockback event. - UPDATE Added a new spell cooldown enforcement system that allows us to control how often a mob can cast a specific
spell. In this case, many mobs with the Death spell now have an enforced cooldown, mininum HP%, or other conditions
around casting the spell. This affects several Voidwatch and Heroics mobs, but does not affect Dynamis statues (as
casting Death is “their thing”). Mobs that cast Death intentionally (a mechanic or reaction) or that use KO-inflicting
TP moves (Marine Mayhem, Death Prophet, etc.) are not affected by this change.
- Akvan
- Bloodeye Vileberry
- Brittlis
- Cannered Noz
- Giltine
- Golden-Tongued Culberry
- Gwynn ap Nudd
- Ig-Alima
- Kalasutrax
- Lord Asag
- Murk-Veined Baneberry
- Paramound Gallu

- UPDATE Removed chunks of palladium brass ore from Goblin Meatgrinders and Plunderers in the Shadowera zones (as they should have never dropped them).
- UPDATE The Dealer Moogles are now available in the ports of the three nation cities. You’ll find new quests and systems sometimes reward Mog Kupons. Trade these Kupons to the Dealer Moogles to choose your own reward! Note: While GEO/RUN specific items are obtainable through these kupons, they are currently unusable. Proceed with care.
- UPDATE Added Cactaur Roots to the harvesting nodes in the Mog Garden. These are used to craft sabotender jugs.
- BUG Addressed an issue where weaponskills could bypass the interrupt when a target is dead and cause a crash condition (trying to cause damage on an empty target).
- BUG Addressed an issue where players could receive a raise or tractor menu while one was already present on the target.
- BUG Addressed an issue where SAM’s Zanshin would attempt to proc on a weaponskill single hit (which it shouldn’t).
- BUG Addressed an issue where dancer’s Reverse Flourish had the wrong animation.
- BUG Addressed an issue where Chupa Blossom, Whiteout, and Malediction (large model) had the wrong animation.
- BUG Addressed an issue where Death Blossom (WS) showed a cutoff message when applying its magic evasion down effect.
- BUG Addressed an issue where the “scale to alliance” mechanics used in Limbus and other areas weren’t properly scaling attributes, only HP.
- BUG Addressed an issue where players were being granted a default “A” ranking in Magic Evasion, instead of an “F” ranking. Most players will see ~40-100 MEVA reduction at 99/99. With this change, all scripted content that had bonuses to MACC have had those removed or reduced by at least 40-100.
- BUG Removed an incorrect +40% WSD bonus for Refulgent Arrow on Laevateinn. lol?
- BUG Addressed an issue where Riverwashed Toads and Treefrost Gerfysts in Foret de Hennetiel had incorrect drop lists.

- BUG Addressed a typo where the modifier for Waltz Potency was Waltz Potentcy.
Po-tae-toe... Po-ten-see
- BUG Addressed an issue where automatons were scaling off the master, not the automaton themselves giving them about -10% stats they should have had at 99+.
- BUG Addressed an issue where players would gain ranged weaponskills based on their main hand weapon’s skill rating, not their ranged weapon’s skill rating.
- BUG Addressed an issue where several shurikens had missing models or the wrong removal slot flag and couldn’t be properly equipped.
- BUG Addressed an issue with the Jhakari +2 gear set not properly setting it’s set bonus.
- BUG Addressed an issue where the tulifaire jug pet’s Swooping Frenzy ability was applying damage AFTER applying its status effects instead of before.
- BUG Addressed an issue where mob-cast blue magic’s alpha calculation for mobs > level 99 failed which caused all physical blue magic moves cast by mobs to do 0 damage.
- BUG Addressed an issue with the equip and style lock packets causing “removed slots” to not send another update packet to the client. This caused items like the Behemoth Suit, Track Pants, etc. to show through when another slot was blocked. This should address a 5+ year old known issue.
- BUG Addressed an issue where shield were triggering an ‘off-hand’ check when dual wielding, causing the defense of the shield to be added as base damage to the attack. Shields are no longer weapons except for shield bashing.
Miscellaneous - General
- UPDATE The NPC offsets in Korroloka Tunnel have been updated to fix a several rarely used QMs that had shifted.
- UPDATE The encounter for the Red Mage Master Job quest #5 within Ra’Kaznar Turris have been updated to automatically despawn after being idle for 5m.

- BUG Addressed an issue with the Wakido Haidate +2 to have the proper type of WSD+% modifier on it.
Members Portal Enhancements
The Members Portal has received several enhancements to make it easier for players to find items and drops related to BCNMs and our new dynamic instances and encounters.
Searching
- The monster search page now uses the “PlayOnline” name rather than the script name so that punctuation shows up properly.
- On the item search page, players who are searching for an item modifier can now see that item modifier in the search results and sort the results by it.
- With better caching available, the item search page now supports up to 100 search results.
- Players can now see all potential items available in the Mog Garden via Find > Mog Gardening in the top menu.
- The members portal item search URLs have been streamlined to not include ‘default’ values to be easier for players to share.
Items
- The item details pages have been redesigned into two columns to be easier to read on smaller devices and address the item box from cutting off before the responsive cutpoint.
- As we’ve moved into using more fixed rates (rare, uncommon, etc.) rather than percentages for BCNMs and instances, the
Members Portal now shows the text description of the rarity rather than a fixed percent for those that have been
converted to this new system. Additional BCNMs will be converted incrementally over time.
- Right now, Mog Gardening, The Naakuals (Wildskeeper Reives), the Fractured, Reisenjima Sanctorium, Halls of Legion, and the Daily BCNMs have been migrated to the new rarity system.
- Players can now see Personal Loot on the item details, BCNN details, or monster details pages. The Personal Loot sections show the item, the chance of acquisition, and whether or not it is grouped (a fixed chance to drop among other items) or not.
- Players can now see the Auction House category of an item under the Details dropdown in the item detail pages.
Monsters
- The monster names on detail pages no longer force proper/title case to address an issue where the links to some BGWiki articles didn’t work (e.eg. Aa Nawu the Thunderblade vs. Aa Nawu The Thunderblade).
- Monsters that are part of a BCNM, instance, dynamic instance, or related encounter now show that instance loot on their individual monster page. For example, looking at Shinryu no longer shows an empty loot page, but shows the loot for the instance that Shinryu is part of and a link to that BCNM’s details page.
BCNMs and Instances
- The BCNM Details page now shows both key items and items required to enter BCNMs or Instances and, if multiple items are required, each of the items.
- The BCNM listing page now sorts, by default, by zone name and battlefield name. Players can click the column headings to sort as well.
Synthesis
- The main craft pages have been redesigned to include all recipes for a craft on a single page.
- The pages now track the current synthesis level of the account’s primary character and highlight recommended recipes in green for optimal skill ups.
- The pages now included a floating navigation that allows players to quickly move between skill levels.
Miscellaneous
- Several instances where roman numerals are used in item or monster names have been updated to display properly.
- The item and monster search pages now properly auto focus the text entry box to make it quicker to start searching.
- Throughout the Members Portal, several sections now include small explanations, such as what personal loot is, what the difference between an armoury crate and a treasure pool, etc. to help guide players.
Whoo! That’s it for this update! Enjoy The Chronicles!

Miscellaneous
- UPDATE Updated Pellucid, Fern, and Taupe stones to stack to 99 instead of 12.
- BUG Addressed an issue with fly NM’s Debilitating Drone to give it the proper animation and change it from a piercing physical attack to a darkness magical attack (since, ya know, the animation is a giant darkness cloud).
- BUG Addressed an issue where blue magic’s Restoral was flagged to be AOE instead of single target.

- UPDATE With the addition of the crafting recipe, beryllium arrows are now accessible and have the proper mods and weapon stats.
- BUG Addressed a targeting issue with Cait Sith’s Raise II spell not being able to properly target (and cast on) dead players.

If you’re interested in participating in the upcoming beta of The Adventurer’s Chronicles, please go to Discord and react to the call to action post.
20 August
Miscellaneous
- UPDATE (hotfix) Updated Last Stand to have a proper multi-hit animation (two pew pews). Like Jishnu’s, Last Stand is multi-hit despite ammo, though the animation will show two fires if both hits land and one if not (similar to Jishnu’s lightning strikes). No functional change, just moar boom.
- UPDATE (hotfix) Updated the “check” timer for Bashmu in Reisenjima to be the same durations whether or not a head has recently been defeated or not; this should make the fight flow a bit easier and have less RNG if you managed to defeat a head right as the last timer was starting.
- BUG (hotfix) Addressed an issue with Cait Sith’s Mewing Lullaby not having a proper resistance check. The TP reset applies whether or not the sleep effect lands, but the sleep effect now has a proper resist check.
- BUG (hotfix) Addressed (I hope) an issue what some Ashita 3/Windower (xiloader.exe) launchers would have client crashes with Diabolos’ Noctoshield. We’ve found a status log message that doesn’t seem to crash, so the effect’s been updated with it.

Beat The Heatwaves 2023
For our final week of the Beat the Heatwaves event, we’re starting the Green Festival (aka the Morbol Cafe) located in Lower Jeuno.
While starting small this year with a few shops and some… interesting… characters, this will be a larger custom event next year.
Take a few moments to check out the event, shop around for some tasty (and rare) snacks, and show your Morbol spirit with a variety of style lock items. These items won’t be back until next year, so stock up now!
- Cafe Maid No.1 sells a variety of common food items, costume items, and style lock items.
- Cafe Maid No.2 sells a variety of rare food items with some very interesting effects. These items are only available from the Morbol Cafe.
A few examples of the food items:
Once a Year | Tasty Treats! |
---|---|
- Each week, players have a better chance at rewards from the event.
- The chance for Summer Heats to drop Fire Feathers has improved by 5% this week.
- The chance for the Stand In The Fire BCNM to drop its rare loot pool has improved by 5% this week.
Miscellaneous
- UPDATE The jobs for Hellbound Warriors and Skinnymalinks are now set to warrior, not dark knight.
- UPDATE Until the new ID can be found, the Mog House in Southern San d’Oria [S] is now Bastok [S]’s version… instead of a hell void.
- BUG Removed incorrect item mods on a series of level 75 mythic weapons that had Double Attack +15% on them (likely dating back to before aftermaths were wired up).
- BUG Addressed an issue where some stackable could still be augmented, causing those augments to be lost when they filtered back into the inventory.

Retail Client Update - July 2023
For a refresher on how to update your client, click here.
In Check Files and/or when typing /ver
in game, the new version number should be 30230704_2
or higher.
- Updates to NPCs in: Oldton Movalpolos, Chocobo Circuit, The Boyahda Tree, Lower Delkfutt’s Tower, and all city zones.
- Updates to message IDs in: Northern San d’Oria, Port Bastok, Rabao, Mhaura, Kazham, and Norg.
In addition, this adds a new ‘cutscene delay’ mechanism that allows players to opt out of starting new expansions or major quest lines when entering zones (e.g. starting Chains of Promathia the first time entering Delkfutt’s Tower). When entering these zones, players now get a Yes/No dialogue.
For now, selecting Yes proceeds on the cutscene as normal and selecting No skips it. However, both options still proceed the quest to the next step. Using the earlier COP example, if you select No on entering the tower, you’ll still get flagged to zone to Upper Jeuno for another cutscene before heading to Monberaux. You just didn’t have to watch the initial starter cutscene.
We have plans to implement the new NPCs, called Tales’ Beginnings that allow you to say No, but then go retrigger the events in our next month’s update though we need to do some research on retail on how they work first.
Community members who are using high-definition DATs, such
as Ashenbubs, are recommended to use XIPivot to sideload their files
to making updating month-to-month easier. Be sure to grab it to get the latest textures. Players who use Xi-View should

Beat The Heatwaves 2023
- Each week, players have a better chance at Fire Feathers from the Summer Heats.
- The chance has improved by 10% this week.
- The Stand in the Fire BCNM now checks the player’s inventory when rewarding one of the pre-augmented bonus items. Rather than skipping out on bonus loot when the random reward is already in the player’s inventory, it will reroll again for each of the 6 potential rewards. If the player has all six, then they’ll receive nothing. This should make it significantly easier for players to get the rewards.
- New rewards have been added to the Stand in the Fire BCNM armoury crate.

Beat The Heatwaves 2023 is here!
The summer event, Beat the Heatwaves is back for another season.
This seasonal event has players chasing after several Summer Heats scattered throughout Vana’diel. Each has a chance to increment the player’s Heatwave total that unlocks prizes. In addition, the Stand in the Fire encounter (located inside Horalis Peak’s A Feast Most Dire BCNM) has several unique, pre-augmented drops, and the rare Golden Bomb mount.
Changes in 2023
- The Summer Heats now have new spawn locations and can appear in more places within each zone.
Keep watch for updates each week to the Beat the Heatwaves event!
For full details about the Beat The Heatwaves event, check out the wiki page.

Drop List Cleanup
Per some feedback, we’ve been evaluating some of the larger drop lists in the game. At the time, many of these are older world content with various drops added for things that didn’t exist in the private server world in 2018. Many of these encounters either do exist now or are on the way.
Today
In the short term, the goal was to reduce the amount of loot in very large pools (>10 drops) while still retaining what does drop in the game’s ecosystem.
- If an item dropped from multiple mobs, it was removed from the mobs with the larger lists.
- If multiples of an item dropped (and it wasn’t supposed to), the duplicates were removed.
- If an item had no value or was just there for ‘flavor’, it was removed (looking at you, Shadow Lord statues–we’ll add another way to get those and all the others coming soon).
Encounters updated by these changes:
- Broo
- Byakko
- Chigre
- Nuhn
- Khromasoul Bhurborlor
- Experimental Lamia
- Fafnir
- Genbu
- Gotoh Zha the Redolent
- Iriz Ima
- Jormungand
- Nidhogg
- Mahjeaf the Paintorn
- Sarameya
- Tiamat
- Tinnin
- Tyger
- Vrtra
- Vulpangue
Soon
Several of these encounters still have large lists, but removing the items would make them unavailable to players. As we look at things like Unity, Wildkeeper Reives, Delves, and Fractures, we’ll move those items into the appropriate locations.
The perfect spot we’d like to aim for is that mobs have 6-8 drops max to ensure the fewest things possible “hit the floor”.
Miscellaneous
- UPDATE Updated the fallthrough BCNM message to include that a BCNM could be occupied as a reason it’s unavailable.

Spring Break 2023

- BUG Addressed an issue where a Leathercraft request was a Round Shield (woodworking) instead of a Leather Shield.

Miscellaneous
- UPDATE The Monk ability Inner Strength has been updated to better align to retail providing a “Perfect Counter”-esque experience, restoring the player’s health based on the HP added, and adding +100 to guard.
- UPDATE The Corsair ability Random Deal has been wired up that has a chance to reset the recast timers of the player and nearby party member’s recast timers. This is wired up similar to retail that it will try to reset any of your abilities, not just active ones, but gear modifiers and merits into Loaded Deck can make it prefer abilities on cooldown. Note: At 99/99 and having a LOT more abilities than retail, this skill has more variance than players may expect.
- BUG Addressed an issue where the player’s delivery box could get out of sync between send and receive and allow the wrong commands to be issued to the wrong type of delivery box.
- BUG Addressed a potential crash condition when setting a style lock item to an item that the player does not currently have access to.
- BUG Addressed an issue where the Corsair ability Triple Shot had the wrong recast ID and would show up incorrectly on some plugins/addons.

Mog House - 2nd Floor
The second floor of the Mog House has been added! Players can now unlock the second floor, remodel it to look like any of the major nations, add decorations, etc.
How do I access it?
Accessing it requires completing the three nation “exit” quests. These are short quests in each nation city that allows you to exit from your Mog House to any of that city’s zones.
- San d’Oria - Growing Flowers
- Bastok - A Lady’s Heart
- Windurst - Flower Child
Once those three are complete, zone in to your Mog House in your primary nation and you’ll receive a cutscene unlocking the second floor and Mog Safe 2.
What if I already had things in Mog Safe 2?
… go do the flower quests? :D Sorry, to wire up the second floor, the safe is directly tied to the floor being locked or unlocked. Making that work puts the client check back in, so until you deliver some flowers, you’ll be unable to access the second floor.
How do I access the Mog Patio?
The patio requires a special item to unlock. Look for it to be added to the login rewards soon. 😁

Relic Augments - Red Mage
The Red Mage Reforged Relic augments have been added as item modifiers. Each modifier is linked to a merit category for the job except the 2-hour modifier.
- head: Enhance: Enfeebling Magic Duration adds 3s per merit to the duration of enfeebling magic spells and * Enhance: Magic Accuracy* adds +3 to magic accuracy per merit level.
- body: Enhance: Chainspell adds 20s to the duration of Chainspell.
- gloves: Enhance: Enhancing Magic Duration adds 3s per merit level to the duration of enhancing magic spells.
- legs: Enhance: Enspell Damage adds +1 enspell base damage per merit level (on cast) and **Enhance: Melee Accuracy
** adds +2 melee accuracy per merit level.
- NOTE: In retail, these are required to be equipped to get the +5 damage for 5/5 merits. We’ve wired this up to be on cast because that’s more in line with other enspell bonuses.
- feet: Enhance: Immunobreak Chance adds +1% immunobreak chance per merit level.
- NOTE: This does nothing as Immunobreak isn’t wired up as I think it’s a terrible concept. 😆
Relic Augments - Thief

- head: Enhance: Aura Steal adds a 20% chance per merit to steal or dispel a second effect.

- gloves: Enhance: Perfect Dodge adds 10s to the duration of Perfect Dodge.

- feet: Enhance: Assassin’s Charge adds 1% crit hit rate per merit to the next swing affected by Assassin’s Charge.
Relic Augments - Dark Knight

Dynamis-Tavnazia - Diabolos Rampage!
Dynamis-Tavnazia has finally been cleaned up and updated to not have a giant pack of Diabolos sitting in the corner.
-
All Diabolos have been removed as respawning mobs.
-
All Diabolos-type mobs now have their skills–Camisado, Somnolence, Noctoshield, Ultimate Terror, Nightmare, and Runinous Omen. This includes Maere out in Abyssea-Grauberg, so surprise to the next person farming a belt.
-
The Diabolos mobs now have a 10% chance to spawn whenever any mob within Dynamis-Tavnazia is engaged. There’s four in the pool: Club, Diamond, Spade, and Heart.
-
The other ‘shard’ and pet versions of Diabolos have been removed.
Miscellaneous
- UPDATE Added the desynth recipe for Bracers (lv 36).
- UPDATE Cleaned up and re-flagged many status effects to properly drop on job change, etc.
- BUG Addressed an exploit condition where players could exceed merit limits (though it crashed their clients).

Retail Client Update - January 2023

Note that this is a _1
update; the original 30221224
retail release has a glitch in it causing players zoning in and
navigating around Northern and Southern San d’Oria to client crash. Be sure that you’re on 30221224_1
.
- No zone, message, or ID shifts were added (most were pre-loaded in the December update).
- New items were added.
- A new title was added.

- UPDATE Addressed a condition where not having an automaton oil equipped and using Maintenance wouldn’t trigger the Unable to use job ability. message.

- UPDATE Removed a debug statement causing excessive logging around Reisenjima Henge’s Absolute Virtue encounter.
- BUG Addressed a crash condition where sic’ing a pet on Reisenjima Henge’s Shadow Emperor would cause a server crash (because we can’t set a pet’s in-game music). Updated several other instances where music gets changed and it might attempt to apply to non-PCs.

Winter Celebration 2022
The Winter Celebration event has come to a close for another year. Thanks to everyone who participated!
Reisenjima Henge - Shadow Emperor (t4)
Reisenjima Henge’s Shadow Emperor fight has been redesigned. The goal is to get the mechanics a bit closer to the redesigned Absolute Virtue. While AV is the “DPS race” before it can Benediction again; this fight can be done slow and steady by lower DPS jobs if you can withstand his attacks and debuffs.
-
The fight is no longer a gauntlet, skipping directly to Shadow Emperor similar to Absolute Virtue.
-
Shadow Emperor’s “stance dancing” is no longer timed or HP based, but part of his normal rotation through the use of Soma Wall and Spell Wall, which have a fixed cooldown before he can potentially use a wall again.
- Players will see that Shadow Emperor’s armor gems glow red or blue when he’s absorbing damage of that type.
- The absorb lasts for 30-45s after the wall effect is used and the gem glow will fade. This also signals will change his weapons from 2h to dual wielding depending on which wall activates.
- During each of these stances, his stats for either physical or magical attacks are increased.
- This change helps open this fight up to classes who don’t have both melee and magic.
-
Shadow Emperor’s spell list has been greatly reduced to high-tier fire magic which he only uses when using his 2h weapon.
-
Shadow Emperor’s skill list has been redesigned to include the previously unused Fait Lux skills that match his model rather than trying to force in generic skills.
- There are several new skills in his arsenal that are a mix of single target, conals, and AOEs. Players should keep on their toes.
-
Shadow Emperor’s HP pool has been rebalanced to compensate for the lack of the 3 Beastmen kings ahead of him (brought in line with AV’s).
Miscellaneous
- UPDATE Updated the check for when weaponskills heal a target that was causing it to underflow in the logs showing like 100K+ values, when it was likely only doing 15-20K (131070 - actual damage was showing in the logs.)
- UPDATE Updated the Immigration NPCs in each city to clear the MissionStatus of players in the event it wasn’t cleared by the mission they last completed. This could prevent players changing missions from taking up a new mission.
- BUG Addressed an issue where the Fishing Contest could not calculate properly if contestants had character names longer than 15 characters. The Fishing Contest has been restarted and will calculate on the next conquest point calculation (JST Monday). This is back on and should be working.

Relic Augments - Warrior
The relic augments for Warrior have been added.
- Head: Enhanced Savagery adds +40 TP Bonus per Savagery merit to Warcry.
- Body: Enhanced Aggressive Aim adds +3 AGI per Aggressive Aim merit to Aggressor.
- Hands: Enhanced Mighty Strikes adds +15s duration to Mighty Strikes.
- Legs: Enhanced Warrior’s Charge adds +1% crit hit rate per Warrior’s Charge merit.
- Feet: Enhanced Tomahawk adds +1% resistance reduction effect to Tomahawks.
Warrior’s Tomahawk Redesign
Previously, Tomahawk was wired up for its 75-era level effect, reducing the target’s defense by 20%. In modern era, this has been updated to reduce the ‘special defenses’ of mobs by 25%.
What are special defenses? Every mob has a base rate it takes melee (pierce, slash, impact, and hand-to-hand) and magical (light, dark, wind, etc.) damage. Some mobs, and mob families, are naturally resistant to some attacks while others have mechanics that rotate (e.g. the zdei in Sea and Escha Ru’Aun) immunities.
Tomahawk now provides a 25% reduction to these defenses. This also means that mobs that take 0 damage (immune) will temporarily take 25% damage from that damage type while Tomahawk’s effect is active.
Relic Augments - Dancer
The relic augments for Dancer have been added. They’re a bit… interesting.
- Head: Enhance Trance adds 20s to the duration of Trance.
- Body: Enhance No Foot Rise adds +50 TP per merit level of No Foot Rise to the player when used.
- Hands: Enhance Fan Dance increases the minimum physical damage reduction from 20% to 21-25% based on how many merits are in Fan Dance.
- Legs: Enhance Saber Dance increases the double attack (ours is custom at 75%->30%) starting value by 1% per merit, e.g. players at 5/5 merits would start at 80%.
- Feet: Enhance Closed Position increases the Store TP of the player by +3 for every merit in Closed Position. This is additive to other Store TP sources and works for auto attacks, being hit, and weaponskills and requires, similar to other Closed Position bonuses, the player to be directly facing the target.
Dancer’s Empyrean Modifiers
We’ve added the Empyrean item modifiers for several Dancer effects that we never realized were missing. As these are a bit specific, some don’t work exactly like they might work in retail, but work close enough to make sense.
-
Enhances Feather Step: Adds additional enemy critical hit resistance reduction to Feather Step. 5/5 with Reforged Empyrean +1 is a 16% reduction to critical hit resistance (meaning you need 16% less crit rate to hit 100%, or countering mobs who have an innate critical hit resistance allowing them to be critically hit).
-
Striking Flourish Double Attack Crit Rate: Adds an impressive amount of critical hit rate to double attacks and double attacking weaponskills (if the weaponskill can crit).
-
Climactic Flourish Crit Hit Damage: Varies from retail a bit, instead of adding an additional critical hit attack round, this improves the critical hit rate damage formula by 1-2% of the dancer’s CHR (adding 3-4% for empyrean +2/+3 later) and 25% increased critical hit damage with Reforged Empyrean +1.
All of these modifiers can be seen on the items in the Members Portal.
Dancer’s Flourish IIIs and Fan Dance
Based on community feedback, we evaluated how the Flourish III effects worked both as a main job dancer and when used as a subjob.
-
The formula and logic for Climactic Flourish has been redesigned to make it a bit easier to use strategically with greater amounts of Finishing Moves or tactically for fewer amount of finishing moves.
- Critical Hit Rate is now
CHR * 3%
(plus the Empyrean Bonus, if applied) - Critical Hit Damage bonus is still
CHR * 10%
. - Duration is 10s base, adding 5s per finishing move (simulating that more FMs in retail mean more hits).
- Critical Hit Rate is now
-
The formula and logic for Ternary Flourish has been redesigned to make it stat-based rather than just fixed amount and duration. There’s currently no gear that affects this, perhaps a master job bonus eventually.
- Triple Attack Rate is
CHR * 3%
(500 CHR = 15%, which is currently the fixed rate). - Duration is 20s +
(CHR/50)
, or 30s at 500 CHR. (current is 20s fixed). - Additional bonuses to CHR, such as BRD songs, food, gear, etc. can improve the potency and duration.
- Triple Attack Rate is
-
The custom bonuses for Fan Dance are no longer fixed at a flat +25 rate. They are now based on
CHR * 0.05
(5% of CHR) with no cap.- 500 CHR puts players back at +25, but now they can grow it more.
Relic Augments - Bard
The relic augments for Bard have been added. These provide an interesting opportunity for Bards to crank up their -PDT and -MDT with four songs active on them.
- Head: Enhance Con Anima adds -1% PDT per merit to the bard for active songs on them.
- Body: Enhance Troubadour adds 4s per merit to Troubadour’s duration.
- Hands: Enhance Con Brio adds -1% MDT per merit to the bard for active songs on them.
- Legs: Enhance Soul Voice adds 30s to the duration of Soul Voice.
- Feet: Enhance Nightingale adds 4s per merit to Nightingale’s duration.
Relic Augments - Puppetmaster
The relic augments for puppetmaster have been added and Optimization and Fine Tuning are looking like winners.
- Head: Enhance Optimization adds 1% critical hit damage and 2% magic critical hit damage per merit of Optimization.
- Body: Enhance Overdrive adds 20s to the duration of Overdrive.
- Hands: Enhance Fine Tuning adds 1% critical hit rate and 2% magic critical hit rate per merit of Fine Tuning.
- Legs: Enhance Ventriloquy gives +5% enmity to the higher and -5% enmity to the lower of the enmity swap target per merit (essentially doubles the enmity effect).
- Feet: Enhance Role Reversal gives an additional 50HP bonus per merit.
Relic Augments - Dragoon
The relic augments for Dragoon have been added. The Deep Breathing and Angon bonuses look very nice!
- Head: Enhance Deep Breathing adds an additional 10% breath potency per merit of damage to wyvern breaths and heals (increases cap from +140% to +190% at 5/5).
- Body: Enhance Spirit Surge increases the duration of Spirit Surge by 20s.
- Hands: Enhance Angon increases the defense down power by 1% per merit.
- Legs: Enhance Strafe adds +50 TP per Strafe TP to healing breaths and +50 TP of Save TP to elemental breaths.
- As elemental breaths don’t use TP, even though they consume it.. it’s not part of the damage formula, even on retail… and a stray forum post says it’s actually Save TP, so we’re running with that logic for the time being!
- Feet: Enhance Empathy increases the duration of buffs copied during Spirit Link by 10% per merit.
Dragoon’s Strafe and Healing Breaths
-
The Merit ‘Strafe’ was converted in retail to a trait from a merit. This change has been added and players gain Strafe at 20, 40, 60, and 80. Each tier adds +5 Wyvern Breath Accuracy to the player’s wyvern. The ‘Strafe Effect’ merit now adds +10 Wyvern Breath Accuracy to the player’s wyvern.
-
Added the missing modifier check for the ‘Strafe Effect’ merit when wyvern’s elemental breaths are used.
-
The logic for Healing Breaths have been centralized and the ‘base’ heal for them staggered at 35, 45, 55, and 75 (they were all 35 before.. copy and paste error years ago?).
- In addition, the logic for Deep Breathing has been added to be the 100%+10% per 2+ merit gain.
Miscellaneous
- UPDATE Added a check that removes level sync is a player is coming back into the game or zoning and is not in a party which can cause a zone crash.
- UPDATE Added checks to several enmity methods for mobs to not try to add party or players outside of the mob’s zone.
- BUG Addressed an issue where Wild Oats (cast by mobs) was not doing damage, only the VIT reduction.
- BUG Addressed a missing message ID in Heavens Tower that could cause Windurst Mission 5-1 to not show up in the chat log when added (no functional change).
- BUG Addressed an issue where some spell lists had a max level of 99 causing mobs higher than 99 not to cast spells (this mostly just affected Corrupted Altana and some custom NMs).
- BUG Addressed an issue where COR’s Triple Shot had the wrong recast ID and would show up incorrectly in third-party plugins.
Members Portal
- Resolved an issue with the Veteran Crafters table being offset has been updated and the abbreviations have been replaced with the craft guild icons for easier viewing.
- Resolved an issue with the
